PROGRAM Tuesdays Current session ends June 25,  2024 – Restarts August 20, 2024

Free Yoga for Seniors @ Scan Centre – Tuesdays 10 am – 11 am  – requires registration.  Coffee, Cookies and Conversation to follow.  All seniors 60 years + are welcome to participate one day per week – limited to a max 30 persons / class.   Participants need to Register by email before attending a class to confirm if space is available.

CLASS IS FULL with a waiting list of 6 + seniors.

Registration includes confirming your name and contact information.  Also include dates you will be away within the next 3 months to optimize scheduling of full 30 participant classes.  You will be contacted by email or phone when spots come available.

The yoga instructor is a professional with many years of experience.  Bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. All other Yoga Resource materials are supplied – balls, blocks, straps & bolsters. See you there! Any questions, Contact: Scandinavian Centre  email:

2024 Sons of Norway Syttende May Celebrations @ Scandinavian Centre

EVENT  Date and Details to be confirmed – Saturday June ? at 2:00 pm @ Ersson’s Ranch in High River
– Maypole Raising  Coffee served at 3 pm before raising the Maypole. Please bring Pot Luck Supper- South Calgary bring a meat and dessert dish.  North Calgary bring Fish/seafood/green salad and bread/butter/cheese dish. Also bring your own beverages, plates, cups, cutlery and lawn chairs for your own use. There is a barn (lodge) where the food will be placed on tables.
Directions: South on Highway #2 to Highway # 23 to High River.
In High River on 12th Ave pass the school, motel, MacDonalds etc then at 88th Street (in the roundabout) turn South and go 3 km, at 562nd Ave turn west for 7 km. The Ersson’s have a Dalahorse at the entrance.

Scandinavian Adult Choir – 2024


Fall Session starts Wednesdays  – September 4, 2024 ends December 6, 2024

If you like to sing, come and join our Scandinavian Choir. Learn Nordic folk music and pronunciation at Wednesday practices from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Scandinavian Centre. Christmas and Spring concerts offer opportunities for solo and small group performances in addition to choir presentations.  E-mail or call Alison at 403-283-1299 for more information.

Youth Choir for 8 – 14 year olds.   Wednesdays  5:30 pm – 6:45 pm in 2 sessions from Sept to Dec and Jan to May. Here is a fun way to learn to sing, meet people, gain confidence and earn the admiration of parents and family.  Scandinavian Centre 739-20th Ave NW  T2M 1E2.  Minimal cost – sponsored by the Scandinavian Cultural Society.  Pianist and Director will lead the choir and teach/promote basic choral skills.

2024 Scandinavian Christmas Market & Bake Sale


November 10, 2024 – Second Sunday in November
10:30 am – 3:00 pm @ Scan Centre 739 – 20th Ave NW
Admission $1.00 CASH – please try to bring a loonie to speed up access – for more info – email

A wide variety of unique homemade baking, handmade & Scandinavian crafts, toys, woodworking, knitting, painting, dolls, cards, jewellery, pottery and much more!  Some vendors accept (CASH or Cheque) only – especially on baking  – some vendors have the square for CREDIT CARDS.  There is a ATM at a convenience store a few blocks west on 20th Ave or at the 7-11 on 4th Street NW.

Downstairs – (CASH ONLY) Scandinavian Lunch of open faced herring, shrimp, ham & roast beef sandwiches, sweets and coffee/tea/juice will be for sale.  $10 Lunch Combo for a sandwich, a square and a drink.

2024 Scandinavian Christmas Choir Concert


Christmas Choir Concert with Adult & Youth Choir – Friday, December 6, 2024 – 7:00 pm @ Scandinavian Centre.  Tickets $10 CASH at the Door.  (Door opens at 6:30 pm)  no charge for Children, however they need a (free) ticket for Hall Capacity Reasons.  Doors open at 6:30 pm General Admission Seating.  Explore Nordic Culture with an entertaining evening of songs including coffee and a taste some Traditional Scandinavian Christmas Treats.
